The detectives of the Anti-Narcotics Brigade of the Metropolitan region after an investigation they managed to seize more than a ton of Cannabis sativa valued at about 6 billion pesos. The operation called Manzanillo also culminated with 4 detainees, two of them Colombians, who were in preventive detention.
The Director of the PDI Sergio Munoz assured that “Our strategic plan has been very clear in defining this work for the safety of our compatriots, we know that these organizations intend to settle and intern a large quantity of drugs, we have seen it in these seizures and with these results that are already more than double the last year”
The transnational criminal organization was dedicated to sending large shipments of this substance through cargo ships where they hide in legal merchandise inside containers, coming from the port of Manzanillo, Mexico, arriving at the national port of San antonio and having as final destination the southern sector of the Metropolitan region.
For his part, the Minister of the Interior Rodrigo Delgado said “If there is a cartel that wanted to explore this route, it went badly because thanks to the investigation, the Investigations Police are in the presence of the first shipment, at least in this mode and we effectively managed to prevent this route from being an effective route for them”
The organization intended to pass 223 packages, containers of Cannabis sativa, which yielded a gross weight of 1,190 kilos 417 grs, equivalent to 1,190,417 of doses of the substance removed from circulation.
