The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, welcomed the activation of the Management Bodies for the Comprehensive Defense of the nation (ODDI) in the states of Anzoátegui, Monagas and Bolívar as part of “Operation Independence 200”.
Through a publication on his Telegram channel, the head of state highlighted that it is a strategic corridor for the comprehensive defense of the homeland, which extends from the Caribbean Sea to the Orinoco and the south of the border with Brazil.
“The Independence 200 exercise has been activated. The entire military force deploying all its positions, the entire weapons system and, in addition, the Bolivarian Militia has been activated, the entire military, popular, and police force,” he said.
The national leader explained that all the Comprehensive Defense Zones (ZODI) for each state are being activated daily, and the full development of the 27 tasks in perfect patriotic union has been “extraordinary (…), our people are winning peace because we have the right to it in the full exercise of national sovereignty as a homeland and independent Republic. Advancing in the defense of the right to life.”
“Independence Exercises 200, Anzoátegui, Monagas, Bolívar, to the charge, to battle and to victory always!” he expressed.
For the peace of the people
The sectoral vice president of Politics, Citizen Security and Peace, Diosdado Cabello, directed from the state of Monagas the activation of the Management Bodies for Comprehensive Defense during the early hours of this Saturday, October 11.
In popular – military – police fusion, the deployment was carried out in the eastern entity in compliance with the command, control and communication exercises ordered by the national Executive to prepare the civilian and uniformed population on how to act in the face of possible foreign armed aggression.
The activation of the ODDI began last Wednesday, the 8th of this year, in the states of La Guaira and Carabobo; 48 hours later it continued in the states Aragua, Falcón and Zulia.
The Minister for Interior Relations, Justice and Peace explained that the national government continues to “work for the peace of our people.”
He reiterated that “the weapons of the Venezuelan State are in the hands of the people,” as the legitimate guarantor of the sovereignty and independence of the country.
Cabello emphasized that given the current scenario of threats that Venezuela faces from the United States, stationed in the Caribbean Sea with a wide deployment of warships and requests for invasion by a minority of the country’s far-right sectors, it is necessary to be prepared.
“It’s not about getting into a trench to wait, but about not letting them sleep, not letting them rest, driving them to despair,” Cabello explained in case such a scenario occurs.
In this context, he indicated that the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, has assumed the preparation of the people for the defense of the homeland along two fundamental lines: prolonged active resistance and permanent offensive.
He explained that this preparation does not interrupt the normal development of the country, since “companies must continue functioning, schools giving classes, hospitals serving, and the people carrying out their activities normally, but ready to face any situation.”
