Santo Domingo.- Agents of the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD), members of the Public Ministrysupported by the military security of the port of Sans Soucí and state intelligence agencies, seized 18 packages of a substance presumably cocaine during a verification operation carried out at said municipal terminal Santo Domingo Este.
The operational teams, within the framework of reinforcing action protocols, inspected dozens of containers that would be shipped to the neighboring island of Puerto Rico when they detected inconsistencies in the back of one of the trailers.
Subsequently, on instructions from the prosecutor, a more rigorous inspection began, discovering a cove in the trailer compartmentsinside which 18 packages of the substance were occupied, lined in black plastic covers.
“This is another modality used by international drug trafficking networks to try to circumvent the controls established by security agencies at airports and ports in the country,” the press release states.
The Public Ministry and the DNCD have initiated an investigation to identify, arrest and bring to justice those involved in this criminal network dedicated to illicit drug trafficking.
