Operation Donqueo: ringleader and 11 gang members fall

A criminal structure dedicated to Gangs was dismantled through Operation Donqueo, carried out by the National Police and the Public Ministry in the district of San Miguelito and other sectors of the province of Panama and West Panama.

Twelve were the alleged gang members apprehended in this operational action that includes several months of investigation. Among them is, alias “Carrot” one of the alleged leaders of this gang calling itself San 23 or Jordán 23, who was located and apprehended in a residence in the San Miguelito district along with his wife who is also required by the Specialized Superior Prosecutor’s Office in illicit association.

Another of those apprehended is a police unit with the rank of corporal, who was identified as part of the criminal group, being placed under the orders of the judicial authorities.

Some 38 search procedures were carried out simultaneously, with the purpose of dismantling this group, which is linked to crimes of Homicide, Extortion, Personal Injury, Drugs, Robbery, Theft and Illicit Possession of Firearms.

In the proceedings, evidence such as technological equipment, various documents and other elements possibly related to the investigations were collected.

The apprehended will be transferred for the procedures corresponding to orders of the Public Ministry.
