Investigation reveals million-dollar contracts between the State and companies of José Ángel Gómez Canaán
New details have come to light about contracts awarded to José Ángel Gómez Canaán, known as “Jochi Gómez”, which involve million-dollar sums from state contracts.
According to the arrest warrant, the plot dates back to 2017, when Gómez Canaán was awarded various contracts from the State, including one to the company Dekolor SRL, where he served as co-manager along with Rogelio Ramón Oruña Aguilar. Dekolor has been one of the main beneficiaries, receiving more than RD$ 4,655 million for the issuance of driver’s licenses, charging RD$ 805.69 for each one issued.
Furthermore, in the document, the MP says that in 2020, Gómez Canaán was also favored with a contract that has been classified as illegal.

According to the Public Ministry, it was a “Collaboration Agreement” between the Ministry of Defense and its company AURIX SAS. However, this contract is not officially registered in government systems, which has raised suspicions about the transparency of the agreement.
It is recalled that yesterday the MP arrested seven people who, in the next few hours, will be requested a measure of coercion, accused of belonging to a corruption and organized crime network dedicated to embezzlement, fraud against the State, forgery, coalition of officials, smuggling, illicit trade, sabotage, terrorism against critical infrastructure, through high technology and identity theft.
Among the facts that are the subject of the accusation are the fraudulent contract for the modernization of the traffic light system of greater Santo Domingo; the illegal contract with the Ministry of Defense and the company Aurix, dated June 23, 2020, used to usurp functions of the intelligence, security and defense organizations of the State and the sabotage that occurred against the traffic light network in the month of August.
