In 12 days the bitumen will arrive for 50 blocks in Melo and 40 in Rio Branco
Officials should be left in the area where they are working inside, but they will pay them more.
The departmental mayor of Cerro Largo, Christian Morel, headed a visit to the Planido Rosas area, where he announced a series of measures related to road infrastructure, the organization of municipal work and the optimization of resources in rural areas of the department.
The communal chief explained that the actions are part of a strategy that seeks to improve connectivity, guarantee the efficiency in the execution of works and, at the same time, assess the effort of municipal officials who day by day travel the rural paths of the deep interior.
The white stone path: a joint effort
During his tour of the area, Morel highlighted the works carried out on the road of Piedras Blancas, which connects with the route that goes to Micaela, in the immediate vicinity of Plácido Rosas.
The mayor said that it is a work that was completed thanks to the cooperation between the public sector and the neighbors, who contributed materials and collaborated in the execution, while the Intendencia contributed machinery, hours of work and technical staff.
“That path we did among all,” Morel said..
The section, which extends from the area of Piedras Blancas to its connection with the access to Micaela, is considered strategic for the neighbors and producers of the area, since it allows to shorten distances, to facilitate the transport of livestock and agricultural products, and improve communication with other localities of the north of the department.
A change of labor modality
Officials should stay in the area where they are working inside, but they will pay them more.
One of the most relevant ads of the mayor was the change in the work modality of the municipal teams that are worked in rural areas.
Until now, the officials left from Melo very early, around six in the morning, to move to the work fronts located more than 100 kilometers, which implied significant wear and waste of productive time.
“That modality was over in which you leave at six in the morning of the intention, you arrive at Plácido Rosas at 09:00 and at 13:00 you are already back. That is not efficient or just for anyone. Now the officials will spend the night in the town, and thus they will pay much more,” Morel explained.
The change, which was agreed with the workers and supervisors of the area of rural roads, will allow officials to spend more effective time in the work, reducing transfers and optimizing fuel resources, machinery and working hours.
The mayor valued the understanding and commitment of the municipal “They understood that this is for the good of work and the department.”
Economic recognition and institutional effort
In that same sense, Morel acknowledged that this new work modality also implies an economic effort on the part of the Intendencia, which must allocate additional resources to cover accommodation expenses and compensation for the time of permanence inside.
“The Intendance has to make an effort and pay them some more pesos, because that is reality. It is not just about asking for more work, but about recognizing the sacrifice and commitment they have with the community,” pointed out.
The communal chief stressed that these types of adjustments are necessary to improve the quality of the services that the Intendance provides in the rural environment, a sector that often requires more attention and constant presence of road crews.
Production, roads and future
The mayor emphasized that the recovery of the rural road is one of the priorities of his management, because “Without passable paths there is no possible development inside the department.”
He recalled that Cerro Largo has more than 7,000 kilometers of road network, most of them neighborhood roads that require permanent maintenance, especially after periods of rain.
“We are making a great effort to maintain the road network in conditions, and we do it as a team, with the municipalities, neighbors and producers. The road of white stones is an example of what can be achieved when there is will and joint work,” express.
Morel stressed that this type of works not only improve connectivity, but also strengthen the sense of belonging and collaboration between the rural population and the intention.
“Every path we fix is an open door to development, access to education, health, trade. And that is worth much more than any investment in machinery,” affirmed.
Commitment to interior locations
During his visit to Placido Rosas, the mayor took the opportunity to meet with local neighbors and referents, who raised different concerns and needs of the community.
Among the issues addressed were the maintenance of internal streets, public lighting, cleaning common spaces and the possibility of improving in the main square of the town.
Morel listened to the proposals and assured that the Intendencia will maintain its commitment to permanent presence in all the localities of the department, regardless of its size or distance from the departmental capital.
“There are no first or second areas. All long hill deserves attention, and we will be where there is a need. Plácido Rosas, Dead Fraile, Noblía, bathed in Medina, all are part of the same project,” He stressed.
Management with austerity and efficiency
The mayor also referred to the economic situation inherited from the previous administration, remembering that his government continues to regularize debts with suppliers and fulfilling pending salary commitments.
Within that framework, he mentioned that austerity and transparency policies have been adopted, with the aim of stabilizing the finances of the commune without stopping the march of the works.
Morel himself acknowledged that “the road is not easy,” but said that progress is being made with responsibility.
“We are paying debts that we do not generate, but we do it because we believe that the financial order is the basis of good management. That will allow us to continue investing in infrastructure, in works like this, that change the lives of people,” He stressed.
A long -term look
Finally, Morel argued that the current management aims to build a more modern, efficient and close intention to people, where resources are used with criteria and decisions are made thinking about the future of all long hill.
“What we are doing today in Plácido Rosas, in Piedra Blanca, or anywhere in the department, is not just to fix roads. It is sowing future, demonstrating that the State can and should be present everywhere, accompanying the effort of the working people,” concluded.
