Open parliament announced to define Science Law initiative

The Chamber of Deputies and the National Council of Science and Technology (Conacyt) will work in a coordinated manner in the ruling of the initiative of the General Law of Humanities, Sciences, Technologies and Innovation, presented by the federal Executive, and for which they will hold a parliament open, with at least seven forums, in order to guarantee the participation of the sectors involved.

This was agreed by the head of Conacyt, María Elena Álvarez-Buylla and the president of the Science, Technology and Innovation Commission, PVEM deputy Javier López Casarín, who agreed to draw a clear legislative path towards a new regulatory framework on the matter.

The official reported on Twitter that the meeting with the legislator – at Conacyt facilities – helps us to strengthen the route we want for the development of science, technology and an innovative vision in our country.

He indicated that the initiative is a proposal that promotes scientific rigor with social and environmental relevance, as well as access to universal knowledge with respect for our traditional knowledge.

For his part, López Casarín announced the upcoming holding of working groups to share information between the federal agency and the legislative commission responsible for the ruling process, in conjunction with Education.
