The National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE) It will require that the militants who go to voting centers tomorrow for the internal elections of their parties present their physical or virtual vaccination card, which certifies having received three doses against COVID-19. This is one of the measures approved in the update of the seven security and prevention protocols against coronavirus.
The rule was published yesterday in the Legal Rules of the official newspaper El Peruano through the Headquarters Resolution No. 001845-2022-JN-/ONPE. As detailed, the purpose of the update is to incorporate provisions for the surveillance, prevention and control of the health of workers at risk of exposure to SARS-CoV-2, as well as those established in Supreme Decree No. 041-2022- PCM, which extends the declared State of National Emergency. The readjustments have the favorable opinion of the General Directorate of Strategic Interventions in Public Health of the Ministry of Health.
The protocols will be applied in the Regional Coordination Offices (ORC) and Focal Points, at the polling place and open spaces, as well as at the polling station. The electoral body also updated the protocols for voters, for officials and observers during the electoral process, as well as for journalists, which are mandatory for all servers and citizens involved in the electoral processes called and will be in force for the duration of the Emergency. “To enter the polling place, voters will be asked for their DNI and the physical or virtual card that proves they have had their vaccination against COVID-19, first, second and third doses. If you do not show the document, entry will be restricted […] It will be verified in the rows of voters that the physical distance of at least one and a half meters is maintained. Physical contact should be avoided at all times (when greeting, saying goodbye, among others)”, reads the regulations.
Likewise, it will be verified that the voters correctly use the two masks or one. KN95 face mask, the same one that must cover the nose and mouth during election day. If the masks are not used properly, entry must be restricted. The voter must allow alcohol gel to be applied as a measure of hand hygiene.
It is also specified that “Voters must follow the instructions given at all times to comply with the security and prevention protocols against COVID-19, otherwise the offender must be removed from the polling place, if necessary with the support of the Armed Forces. and/or the PNP […] Voters must go to the voting room where their voting table is located and wait for their entrance considering the signs or markings on the floors for physical distancing until the members of the table allow them to enter.”.
Finally, ONPE recommended that each voter bring their pen and respect the suggested schedule. After complying with casting her vote and receiving her DNI from the polling station member in the conditioned tray, she must immediately leave the polling place.
