During an interview, Hartill assured that the institution acted according to the information recorded by the same political organization, which elected its delegates on November 30 and had until December 3 to register them through the primary elections application.

“The political organization had authorized the president of its central electoral body, she had the key because they had given it to her and this person has registered a list of delegates with the permission of the political organization,” he explained.
Along the same lines, Hartill highlighted that the ONPE I carried out the procedures in accordance with the law and gave the information as valid. In addition, he indicated that the institution did not participate in the internal elections where the delegates were elected.
Likewise, the ONPE ruled out holding another election to elect the presidential candidate in Popular Action because the electoral schedule must be respected.
When asked if the candidacy of Barnechea If alleged fraud is discovered, Hartill stated that this would be a decision of the JNE.

The legal coordinator of the cabinet of advisors to the presidency of the JNE, Jorge Valdiviaindicated that in the middle of the internal elections for delegates, an incident had to be raised.
The reason, as detailed by Valdivia, was that the list of delegates elected on November 30 that was notified to the JNE did not coincide with the names of the list of people who would vote on December 7. “The incident was raised that gave merit to a report that was sent to the ONPE so that they could become aware of it and inform us about it,” he said.

However, both JNE and ONPE agreed that there would be no point in holding another election due to an issue in the electoral schedule.

In dialogue with The RepublicCongressman Edwin Martínez stressed that ONPE already recognized Alfredo Barnechea as the winner of the primary elections and presidential candidate of the party. Likewise, he assured that “as long as there is nothing objective” he will avoid commenting on an alleged fraud.
“One says one thing, another says another, but in the end nothing is clear,” he said.
Likewise, Martínez mentioned that “for the good of the party” it must be recognized that Barnechea won the primary elections, just as the ONPE did. On the other hand, the parliamentarian indicated that the president of the organization, Julio Chávez, has every right to denounce alleged fraud in the elections if there is evidence and he has arguments to support it.
