The National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE) made official this Monday the approval of the Media Plan for the Electoral Strip corresponding to the Primary Elections of the General Elections 2026through Chief Resolution No. 000174-2025-JN/ONPE. This instrument will allow political organizations to disseminate electoral propaganda financed with indirect public resources in the media and social networks.
The primary elections will be held on the last Sunday of November 2025, in accordance with the Nineteenth Transitional Provision of the Organic Law of Elections. They will define the candidates that will compete in the general elections of April 12, 2026, called by Supreme Decree No. 039-2025-PCM.
What does the Media Plan entail?
The approved Media Plan includes the selection of radio, television and digital spaces carried out by 38 political organizations through the “CLARIDAD” Digital Financing Portal, enabled by the ONPE between October 20 and 30. This process was developed in accordance with the Regulation of Financing and Supervision of Party Funds (RFSFP), which establishes technical, legal and operational criteria to guarantee transparency and equity in the use of public resources.
The electoral period for the primaries will be valid from 15 days to two days before the vote, and includes free access to open signal media, national cable channels, radio stations and daily advertising on social networks, according to the provisions of the Law of Political Organizations.
Participation and exceptions
The Party Funds Supervision Management reported that the “Yes I Believe” Party, led by Carlos Espá, gave up participating in the electoral strip, renouncing the amount awarded. The rest of the political groups accredited authorized representatives to carry out the media selection, in accordance with the requirements established in article 55.1 of the RFSFP.
