The Pension Normalization Office (ONP) reported that 1,559 Peruvians residing abroad receive their pension. Thanks to international social security agreements, insured people who contributed to the National Pension System can access the following facilities:
- Request that contributions be accredited in any country that maintains an agreement with Peru
- Add up your contributions made in the countries with a current agreement. In this case, each country will pay the amount of the pension according to the years contributed and according to its own rules.
- Pensioners can request payment in the country of residence and with an agreement.
- Members or pensioners can submit their applications to the institutions (that perform similar functions of the ONP) of the country with an agreement.
Currently, Peru maintains an agreement with Argentina, Canada, South Korea, Chile, Ecuador, Spain and Uruguay.
Likewise, our country has signed the Ibero-American Multilateral Agreement in order to protect the rights of migrant workers in Ibero-American countries and which has been ratified by: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, El Salvador, Spain, Paraguay , Portugal, Dominican Republic and Uruguay.
The figure
Spain concentrates the largest number of pensioners: 1,490 Peruvians, followed by Argentina with 23 insured and Chile in third place with 21.
The facilities and benefits
The ONP reminded Peruvians abroad who contributed to the National Pension System that, in addition to the regular regime pension (20 years or more of contributions), there is a proportional pension that is accessed after 10 years of contributions.
Likewise, the pension protects family members such as the spouse or cohabitant, minor children, children with work disabilities and those who are studying continuously.
Likewise, to access a retirement pension they have facilities such as the pension loan and the sworn declaration to prove contributions.
