Onemi reports that there are 12 wildfires fighting across the country

The National Emergency Office of the Ministry of the Interior (Onemi) reported this Monday morning 44 forest fires nationwide. Of them, 12 are in combat and 32 controlled.

Regarding the casualties in combat, Onemi indicated that there are three in the Valparaíso Region; two in the Metropolitan; four in O’Higgins’; two in Maule and one in La Araucanía.

Regarding the relevant fires, Onemi highlighted, among others, the one that affects the Botanical Garden in Viña del Mar. The incident has consumed an approximate area of ​​110 hectares.

Onemi also surveyed a fire that affects the commune of San Pedro, Metropolitan Region, which has consumed an area of ​​500 hectares.

In turn, the agency highlighted an incident that affects the communes of Lolol and Santa Cruz, in the O’Higgins Region. The fire has consumed an approximate area of ​​1,915 hectares.

Onemi reported that nine communes are on red alert: Quilpué (Valparaíso Region), Quintero (Valparaíso), Viña del Mar (Valparaíso), Melipilla (Metropolitan Region), San Pedro (Metropolitan), Lolol (O’HIggins Region) , Romeral (Maule Region), Curicó (Maule) and San Clemente (Maule).

Meanwhile, there are two areas with a yellow alert: the entire O’Higgins Region and the Valparaíso commune.

In turn, there is preventive early warning in the provinces of Copiapó and Huasco (Atacama Region); Valparaíso Region, except for the province of Isla de Pascua and the commune of Juan Fernandez; and the Metropolitan Region.
