Onemi declares a red alert in Quillota due to a forest fire that threatens nearby homes

The Presidential Delegation of the Valparaíso region declared a red alert for the Quillota commune, in the region of the same name, due to a forest fire in the Rauten sector, which is being fought and has already consumed five hectares.

As reported by the National Emergency Office (Onemi), the measure will be in force as of today and “until the conditions of the fire warrant it.”

The decision was made in consideration of the characteristics and potential of the incident, added to the technical information provided by the National Forestry Corporation (Conaf).

Due to the danger of the fire, Conaf reported that its technical foundation for declaring the state of alert is because the incident is registered in the vicinity of inhabited sectors.
