Santo Domingo Este.- A judge from the Permanent Attention Office of Santo Domingo Este, issued this Thursday one year of preventive detention against the captain of the Dominican Republic Air Force a(FARD), Fraulin Gabriel Pérez Camacho and citizen Stiven Herrera, accused of the murder of the second lieutenant Welcome Reyes Chalasalso a member of the same institution.
The magistrate, Judge Leomar Cruz Quezada, ordered that the measure be carried out in the La Victoria National Penitentiary.
Although Captain Pérez Camacho was expected to be sent to a military prison, his lawyers reported that the judge justified the decision by indicating that these facilities are not receiving new inmates.

The captain’s defense lawyer, Tomás Castro, expressed his disagreement with the decision, but acknowledged that it must be followed. For its part, the Public Ministry justified preventive detention due to the seriousness of the case and the flight risk of the accused.
According to the defense, Pérez Camacho has no relationship with the crime, arguing that the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado SUV linked to the incident was in a mechanical workshop at the time of the incident. However, the Public Ministry maintains that there are sufficient elements to implicate him in the case.
