Since the registration of candidates began, both PAN members also began the task of collecting more than 30,000 signatures of support from party members, which must be registered before next Tuesday, September 17, in order to continue with the next stage of the process, which will be the start of the internal campaign.
Since September 21, both Jorge Romero and Adriana Dávila have traveled the country in search of signatures of support from PAN members.
According to the call, the formal registration of candidates for the leadership of the party will proceed to those who have managed to collect 30,298 signatures of support or have collected 30% of the signatures of the members of the National Council, which means 114 endorsements.
The internal campaign stage for the candidates will take place from September 18 to 20, as the new national party leader will be elected on November 10.
The PAN’s renewal comes amid internal conflicts over the party’s electoral results during Marko Cortés’ leadership, as during that time the PAN went from governing 11 states to four; Yucatán was the last state it lost in the June 2 elections.
Although the entire CEN is being renewed, the militants will elect by vote the person who will be the president of the PAN, who in turn presents a list with the names of the people who will make up the Executive Committee.
