A woman who had denounced an alleged abuse by the Frente Amplio deputy, Gerardo Núñez, apologized this Thursday through the Instagram account menuruguay2means by which he had made the complaint months ago.
The legislator had denounced her for defamation, although at first it was not known who she was because the account publishes anonymous testimonies. Núñez had suspected a woman in particular, she was summoned by the Justice to attend to the defamation complaint and she ended up admitting to being the author of the complaint.
“On January 26, 22022, at my request, a testimony was published on the Instagram account maleuruguay2 regarding a situation involving Mr. Gerardo Núñez and the undersigned”, Begins by saying the publication that was uploaded to the account in question at around 3:00 p.m.
“In said text, a story was made in which considerations were poured that damaged the good name and reputation of Mr. Núñez. In this sense, having realized the mistake I made when making these considerations known, it is that I proceed to apologize for the means used, “concludes the short statement.
This accusation, now withdrawn, had led to the ex-partner of the Frente Amplio legislator filing a complaint against him before the Justice, and he himself was instructed to appear in a program for men who exercise gender violence.
The complaint
In January, the anonymous complainant – whose name has not been revealed – had written on the Instagram account: “For some years I had been in contact through social networks with a man, who currently has a political position, G…o N… z. On a few occasions he asked me out, but I dodged it. Later, I had the opportunity to meet him in a random context so I finally decided to accept the invitation to chat and meet in person. In 2021 he invited me to his house and I understood that being a public person was reasonable. I went to his house, we had a lot of wine, we had dinner, we talked…”.
And I add: “At one point, he advanced me and I made it clear to him that nothing could happen, first because my intention was not to be intimate with him, but to get to know each other little by little, and second, because I was having my period. He told me that everything was fine and that he did not need to clarify anything. I was drunk. I curled up and told him. Then I went out for a smoke and when I came back, he went into the bedroom. I explained the situation to him again, I sat down, he told me: ‘shh calm down, everything is fine’. Things ended up happening that shouldn’t have happened, things that he didn’t want to do and that he kind of took advantage of me.”
In March, the deputy made himself available to Justice so that everything could be investigated, and decided not to occupy his seat while an investigation by the Broad Front Ethics Tribunal was taking place.
