The crossing of ships from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Uruguay and Peru began on February 13 in Rio de Janeiro, and continued with stops in Punta del Este and Montevideo, while the visit to Mar del Plata is the only port entrance in Argentina, before the fleet advances towards the Chileans of Punta Arenas and Valparaíso, and continue until arriving in Veracruz (Mexico) in June where the tour will end.
This fourth edition Velas Latinoamérica is organized by the Federative Republic of Brazil, celebrating the bicentennial of its Independence.
Velas Latinoamérica, which takes place every four years, had its origin in the 2010 Velas América Bicentennial Regatta, held to commemorate the bicentennial of the beginning of the independence processes of the republics of Argentina and Chile.
