The Ñuflo de Chávez province registers 1,081 suspected cases of dengue and a deceased child, from the beginning of January to the end of February, informed Juan Eloy Monje, manager of the health network. “A minor lost his life when he was transferred by ambulance from Concepción to the city of Santa Cruz de Sierra, with a diagnosis of dengue hemorrhagic fever, although he could not be confirmed with a laboratory test,” the official explained.
Monje said that the six municipalities of the province present positive cases of dengue to rapid tests. San Julián leads the way with 400 infected; followed by Cuatro Cañadas with 288 cases; Conception with 261; San Javier with 73; San Antonio de Lomerío with 32 and San Ramón with 21.
The official called on the families to clean their patios and keep empty all the containers where the larvae of the transmitting mosquitoes can incubate.
“With fumigation, only 30 percent of the mosquitoes die. 70 percent can be eliminated by preventing mosquitoes from laying their eggs inside containers that are in our homes,” Monje said. He also recommended the population not self-medicate and, at the first symptom of the disease, go to a medical center.
Meanwhile, in Concepción, this Tuesday and Wednesday Fumigation campaigns were carried out in different areas. ANDIt is a joint effort between the César Banzer Hospital and the municipal government, with the support of the Rural Electrification Cooperative (CRE).
