One dead and two teenagers arrested is the balance of a shooting that occurred on Friday morning in the city of Coral Gables, within the Miami metropolitan area. The authorities have not been able to define the motive for the shooting and hope to find out after questioning the two detainees.
Multiple law enforcement agencies are involved in the investigations, including the Miami and Coral Gables county and city police departments.
According to Coral Gables police, the shooting occurred in a parking lot on Aragón Avenue, near Coral Way, the commercial artery.
Initially the two suspects managed to escape, but were chased by several people, who told investigators where the escape occurred. The versions were somewhat different. The authorities ended up occupying almost the entire city until they found them.
“This is unexpected for the area, very unexpected,” one of the witnesses told 7 News television channel.
According to Coral Gables Police Chief Ed Hudak, witnesses said there was an altercation in an alley off Coral Way where the suspects got into a vehicle.
A Coral Gables canine unit identified the car and officers began a chase, leading them to the Coconut Grove neighborhood. It is unclear where one person killed in the shooting was found.
The two suspects fled in the opposite direction, prompting police to set up a perimeter.
After receiving information from area residents about the suspects running through the neighborhood, police were able to apprehend them without incident.
Coconut Grove is a multiracial neighborhood in Miami where immigrants of Bahamian and Irish origin live.
