One day before the presidential elections, Maduro hands over houses in Fuerte Tiuna

Less than 12 hours before the start of the presidential elections, the president and candidate Nicolás Maduro handed out homes in Monagas and Caracas, and also reopened sports complexes and parks in the country’s capital.

Presidential candidate Nicolás Maduro handed over this Saturday, July 27, in Maturín (Monagas) the 5,100,000th home of the Great Venezuela Housing Mission (GMVV) and 120 multi-family apartments in the Ciudad Tiuna development, located in the Fuerte Tiuna military complex (Caracas).

“We are going for more and we will achieve it,” said the president from Ciudad Tiuna, where he was accompanied by the mayor of the Libertador municipality, Carmen Meléndez, and the first combatant, Cilia Flores.

The event in the capital of the eastern state was headed by the Minister of Habitat and Housing, Ildemaro Moisés Villarroel.

In contacts with the Vice President, Delcy Rodríguez; the Vice President for Socialism, Melvin Maldonado; and the President of the Great Venezuela Young Mission, Génesis Garvett, he handed over the refurbished Parque Naciones Unidas Sports Complex, the Parque Itagua Ecological Sports Complex and the Tiuna El Fuerte Cultural Park.

Maduro also announced the start of a plan to convert the blocks of the 23 de Enero parish into a large kinetic museum

“This project will serve as an example for other urban developments in the country,” said the president.

Venezuela’s presidential elections will be held on July 28, with Nicolás Maduro seeking a third term in office.

On July 25, the country entered into a period of “electoral silence” or “day of reflection” until July 29, a period in which voters must comply with certain social and political prohibitions before the start of the elections.

Article 75 of the Organic Law on Electoral Processes (Lopre) prohibits electoral propaganda that is financed with public funds. Article 76 of the same law prohibits the posting of posters, drawings, advertisements or other means of electoral propaganda in buildings where public entities operate.

Article 70 of the same instrument provides for sanctions for public officials who, abusing their functions, use their position to electorally favour or harm a candidate, group, party or political movement.
