Once again they recover and raise the cross on Cerro Largo

The Cerro Largo Cross, which will be 38 years old, has just been restored and erected by staff from the Municipality of Cerro Largo under the direction of Javier Otonelli. The iconic cross had been blown down by the wind last winter.

The idea of installing a cross on Cerro Largo arose from Father Javier Mori, a native of the Province of Brescia (Italy), who was parish priest of the Cathedral and San José Obrero de Melo from 68 to 88. The project was presented to the municipal and Church authorities on December 15, 1987, five months before the visit of John Paul II and with prior authorization from the Bishop of the Diocese of Melo and Thirty-Three Monsignor Roberto Cáceres, who that year celebrated his 25th anniversary of ordination.
