Elections in SUNCA, from list 57 confirm that they will not participate
As we reported, elections in the Single Construction and Annexes Union are scheduled to be held at the end of March.
A purely departmental current, identified with No. 57, confirmed in the last few hours that it will not be part of the electoral contest on this occasion.
“Although we had all the documentation ready, with our colleagues we decided based on ethics, principles and values, as we have always preached, to stay out of it” advancement Ernesto Castro.
“What we do not want anymore is the labor dictatorship that exists in this department in that you have to ask permission even from your own SUNCA colleagues to be able to enter a construction site.” he denounced. “That can’t happen anymore.” said the main Reference of List 57.
“Each colleague in our movement will know what he or she is going to vote for, but we must make sure that those principles are present. We understand that the jobs or the stomach of a worker or the economy of a family cannot depend on a union leadership from which we must ask permission to enter the construction sites.” he insisted.

“As list 57, we have been on the subject for years and we know how this is handled, the same thing always happened. In the last week the school supplies arrive. We understand that this is normal. Although we would all like them to arrive earlier, all the workers are worried, in reality it is like that” argued the leader of Cerro Largo.
“Due to irregularities that occurred at the national level in the SUNCA, the Business Chamber and the union itself resolved that a private company should distribute the sets throughout the country” held. “Here it is not only SUNCA that is responsible, but also the Business Chamber” he added.
This aid that workers in the sector receive before the beginning of each school year is done through the Social Fund that is supported by contributions from the employers and the workers themselves. “Whatever happens to the Union Leadership, whoever wins or whoever directs the union, the same thing will happen because in reality it is a fund that is managed between the two parties: the Business Chamber and SUNCA” he explained. “Anything that happens in the Social Funds is the responsibility of both parties” he stressed.
This year the call for bids was won by Empresa El Clon. “We still do not know the company, therefore we cannot make any criticism, but we do know that they operate from Montevideo towards the interior, something that we have criticized all our lives, even with the execution of works that always remain in the south and the north continues to be postponed. This is no exception, the north in every sense is always last.” lamented Ernesto Castro.

“If here we are going to talk about some things that have happened in SUNCA, which we all criticize and all repudiate, Justice is acting, there are already several defendants and perhaps there are some more, but here there are responsibilities that no movement can wash its hands of” requested the leader of List 57 at the departmental level.
“That neither of the two major currents at the national level that are represented in this department were responsible if any of those things had happened, which happened, it is clear, this was demonstrated by Justice. Here neither of the two currents can wash their hands, we can do it like 57 because we are a departmental list that in the next election we are not going to participate due to principles, ethics and values” he stated.
Those who supported this current are free to support the option they consider appropriate. “The current that has been ruling this department for years, directing this union, we do not accompany, we do not accept that our job position is typed as it has existed for years” Ernesto Castro ended up saying.
