The duel between Fluminense and Red Bull Bragantino, which ends their participation in the first round of the Brazilian Championship, brings together teams on the rise. Tricolor has not lost for seven rounds, with six victories in a row, while Massa Bruta won the last three matches. The ball rolls at the Raulino de Oliveira stadium, in Volta Redonda (RJ), starting at 4 pm (Brasilia time) this Sunday (24), with a live broadcast from National Radio. The narration is by André Luiz Mendes, with comments by Waldir Luiz, reporting by Rodrigo Campos and duty by Bruno Mendes.

The match was initially scheduled for Maracanã, in Rio de Janeiro, but the location was changed by Fluminense to preserve the stadium’s lawn, which has been hosting not only Tricolor games, but Flamengo and, more recently, Vasco games. The Laranjeiras team has 31 points and started the weekend in fourth position, five points behind the leader Palmeiras.
Bragantino started the round in eighth place, with 27 points, but could end it among the top six. For that, Internacional has to lose against Palmeiras at Allianz Parque, in São Paulo, at 4 pm this Sunday (24), and Flamengo, earlier, do not defeat Avaí in Ressacada, in Florianópolis, at 11 am.
The club from the interior of São Paulo was surprised, on Friday (22), with the arrest of defender Renan, after the player was involved in a car accident with death, on Alkindar Monteiro Junqueira Highway, in Bragança Paulista (SP). In an official note, Bragantino made himself available to the authorities and the victim’s family. The club must terminate the athlete’s contract on loan from Palmeiras, with whom he has a contract until 2025.
Defender David Braz (with thigh pain) and striker Alan (not yet settled) miss Fluminense. Coach Fernando Diniz can repeat the team that defeated Goiás 3-2 last Wednesday (20), at Serrinha stadium, in Goiânia, but he has the option to spare players thinking about this Thursday’s confrontation (28) , against Fortaleza, in the capital of Ceará, for the quarterfinals of the Copa do Brasil.
If the same team from the last round goes to the field, Tricolor will have: Fábio; Samuel Xavier, Nino, Manoel and Caio Paulista; André, Nonato and Paulo Henrique Ganso; Matheus Martins, Jhon Arias and Germán Cano.
In Bragantino, there are three new casualties compared to the team that beat Fortaleza 2-1 last Wednesday, at the Nabi Abi Chedid stadium, in Bragança Paulista. Goalkeeper Cleiton and defender Léo Ortiz received the third yellow card and striker Alerrandro suffered an injury to the back of his left thigh. Striker Ytalo and midfielder Hyoran, both in the medical department, were already missing the team. On the other hand, midfielders Praxedes and Eric Ramires, after serving suspension, are new features available to coach Maurício Barbieri.
Massa Bruta should face Fluminense with: Lucão; Aderlan, Léo Realpe, Natan and Luan Cândido; Raul, Lucas Evangelista and Miguel; Smile, Arthur and Gabriel Novaes.
