Producers, cooperatives and companies from the five productive regions of Argentina highlighted the collaborative work to improve production quality and nutrition, revalue regional economies and promote the reduction of environmental impact, with priority in the participation of rural youth and women.

The leaders of Noa, Nea, Centro, Cuyo and Patagonia were convened by the Secretary of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the Nation (SAGyP) and the representation of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in the country for World Food Day.

under the motto “Better production, better nutrition, better environment and a better life Leaving no one behind”the objective of the meeting was to propose a view of federalism and reflect that there is knowledge linked to food, nutrition, roots and the defense of traditional knowledge.

At the opening of the event, the Undersecretary of Food, Bioeconomy and Regional Development, Luis Contigiani, stressed that “the right to food, and to sufficient, accessible and healthy food is a right that is above all interests.”

“We have to take care of those who produce food, because that is the basis of that right to food, and we must also understand the issue of local developments, the added value, because the subject and the territory go hand in hand” , he added.

In her turn, the FAO Program Officer in Argentina, María Laura Escuder, expressed that “these stories allowed us to see the great diversity that builds the national culture throughout the entire value chain, ending up in the palates of consumers. , representing and highlighting young people and women in the sector”.

Elsa Bustamante from the Ficco’s Gourmet Entrepreneurship of La Banda, Santiago del Estero, was present for the NOA Region; for the NEA Region, Lucas Gnoato Masoneves from the Yerbatera Andresito Limitada Cooperative, from Comandante Andresito, Misiones; Victoria Moncada, from the Churqui Cañada Limitada Work Cooperative, from Córdoba, participated from the Central Region; and for the Patagonia Region, Lucas Maglio from Idris Patagonia, a rainbow trout production and processing plant in Piedra del Águila, Neuquén, and Esteban Gallie from the Morro Chico farm, which raises sheep and cattle.

Elizabeth Kleiman, responsible for the Sustainable Agrifood Systems area of ​​FAO Argentina, and Pablo Morón, director of Value Added and Quality Management of SAGyP, participated in the closing of the event.
