The company Pluspetrol North in liquidation denounced that unknown persons have cut the tubes of the oil pipeline in the Corrientes-Saramuro section and they have taken them in ships across the river. He pointed out that, if this fact continues, an environmental disaster could occur considering that there are 34 thousand barrels of oil distributed throughout the pipeline.
“There are two tubes in parallel, one has been cut and there has been a spill and the other tube has been cut into pieces and taken down the river to be sold in pieces. There are two tubes because, when one of them fails, breaks or is attacked, then the other is used. They have already produced an act of vandalism, of contamination, and I am concerned that, since people are angry, this will become a brutal ecological environmental disaster,” said the lawyer for the company Pluspetrol Norte in liquidation, Aurelio Loret de Mola.
The legal adviser refers to the four months that he has been invaded the Lot 8 camp by settlers that require the Government to attend to its historical socio-environmental demands.

He related that a month ago the company had already denounced that in the stretch between Corrientes and Saramuro one of the pipeline lines was being dismantled. That time they found 130 pieces of pipe already cut, stacked and ready to be transported.
Regarding these facts, Loret de Mola said that officials from the ministries of Energy and Mines, Interior and Defense, as well as Perupetro, but have not received a response. “The fundamental thing here is to restore order and prevent the cannibalization of the pipeline that goes from Corrientes, where Lot 8 is located, to Saramuro, which is where Petroperú should receive the oil”.
