The President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo Cohen, authorized the Ministry of Social Development (MIDES) to make the fourth payment of the Conditional Cash Transfer Programs (PTMC) that will benefit 192,789 Panamanians who live in a situation of vulnerability, of which 131,812 are women and 60,977 are men.
Payments are made in two stages. The first payment will be made in hard-to-reach areas from November 21 to 25. During this period, a total of 34,971 citizens in vulnerable situations will benefit.
The National Government will disburse 7,097,310 million balboas to the beneficiaries of remote areas, as part of a state policy aimed at social protection and food security for all Panamanians who have been left behind in the social development of the country. .
The Minister of MIDES, María Inés Castillo, indicated that this payment reaffirms the commitment of the National Government to protect the most vulnerable populations, and also constitutes an injection for the country’s economy.
He recommended that the beneficiaries make proper use of public funds and reminded them that these transfers should be used exclusively to buy food, medicine and basic necessities.
Under the difficult access modality, the 120 at 65 program benefits 8,461; Guardian Angel at 756; Opportunities Network to 17,717 and the SENAPAN Food Bond to 8,037 Panamanians.
The second method of payment by Clave Social Card (TCS) will take place from December 5 to 16 and will benefit 157,818 citizens throughout the country. In this segment, MIDES will disburse 49,265,700 million balboas.
The investment in the two modalities, difficult access and Clave Social Card, amounts to 56,363,010 million balboas.
MIDES included in this fourth payment 2,369 people to the 120 at 65 program; 1,641 to the Opportunities Network; 393 in Guardian Angel and 220 to SENAPAN.
According to a MIDES report, the provinces with the most registrations are: Panama, with 30,275; Comarca Ngäbe Buglé, with 28,793; Chiriqui, with 25,854; Veraguas, with 24,203; and Coclé, with 18,419.
Then there are the provinces of Panama Oeste, with 18,262 beneficiaries; Herrera, with 9,917; Los Santos, with 9,321; Colon, with 8,324; Bocas del Toro, with 7,923; Darien, with 5,238; Guna Yala Region, with 3,352 and the Emberá Region, with 2,908 registered.
