The General Council of the National Electoral Institute (INE) will begin the electoral process for the Judiciary next Monday, reported the president of the council, Guadalupe Taddei Zavala.

It is planned that before the session begins, the councillors and staff of the electoral body will carry out a civic ceremony, in which there will be no representatives of the political parties, since they cannot intervene in this process.

He explained that all the councillors have held permanent meetings so that on September 23, as mandated by the Constitution, the process will begin, for which a calendar of activities will be drawn up and a temporary commission for the electoral process will be established.

In addition, he explained that last night they held an extraordinary meeting to reform and make additions to their session regulations, so that representatives of political parties do not take part in this process in the General Council.

“We are seeking rapprochement with the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies and we are in the process of constructing the entire ‘dilemma’ that we will have to present in order to channel it,” she said in an interview during yesterday’s General Council session.

President will not take vacation

The president of the council said that she will not be able to take vacations to get everything done, and that a temporary commission will have to be set up to monitor the process and to advise the operational areas to create the electoral geographic framework and the calendar of activities.

He clarified that this is not included in the budget, but it is enough to include everything related to the process in 2025.

We need to define the geographical framework with the Legislative Branch in order to quickly draw up the first calculations. The electoral processes have a different cartography and a new one will have to be drawn up for the Judicial Branch, because the assignment of judges and magistrates has to do with other constituencies.he stressed.

He considered that the biggest challenge is set the same quality standards and do not make the INE different.

He admitted that there are many operational difficultiesbut for this they have highly qualified technical areas, with delegates and local public bodies with whom they must work hand in hand.
