This Tuesday, February 22, the first television debate on the Urgent Consideration Law (LUC) was held between senators Oscar Andrade (Frente Amplio) in favor of the repeal of 135 articles of the LUC, and Guido Manini Ríos (Open Council) for keep the LUC unchanged.

From some sectors it was questioned that there was little debate. Indeed, the Minister of the Interior, Luis Alberto Heber, stated that each one said what he thought. “But there was no interaction that could generate the debate that we are used to in Parliament, which is much more intense and much more fun.”

Likewise, many of the viewers expected a more in-depth explanation of the topics that were addressed in said instance: “public safety, housing, education and labor relations.”

new discussion

A new debate on the LUC is scheduled for March 7, but this time between Senators Mario Bergara (Frente Amplio) and Gustavo Penadés (Partido Nacional).

Bergara reported on his social networks: “Welcome the debate. Many people are not informed about the dire consequences that the 135 articles of the LUC can have on their lives. On March 7, we will give our reasons so that you can make the best decision for you, your families and the country.”

For his part, Penádes stressed his conviction that the LUC is “a very good law whose central axis is freedom.”
