Judge Kenya Romero, against whom former attorney JJean Alain Rodriguezwho is serving preventive detention for the Medusa case, sued for damageshas no interest in referring to this matter.
“Thank you very much for your interest, but I have nothing to refer to, I should not refer to any of that,” the coordinator of the National District Investigating Courts bluntly expressed when approached by elCaribe.
Yesterday, Jean Alain’s lawyers said that they filed a civil suit against the magistrate so that she be sentenced to pay 15 million pesos, for “refusing” to issue certifications on the resolutions that have been issued at the request of the Public Ministry related to the investigation of the Medusa case, where the former official is involved along with other people.
In Balcácer’s opinion, Judge Romero, who ordered the preventive detention against Rodríguez last July as a judge of the Office of Permanent Attention, has lost her objectivity and departed from her role as an impartial third party, “adopting a deceitful attitude, penetrating to a quasi-personal plane, typifying in this way pain and prevarication”.
Rodríguez’s defense said that “the magistrate has taken advantage of her position, to damage and act, with her back to the law, instructing her internal secretary general to refuse to give answers on the requests regarding the file allegedly organized for the purposes access the resolutions signed by her, affecting the property right of the former attorney and his defense”.
The lawyers said that they also made more than 100 requests to the Office of the Special Prosecutor for the Prosecution of Administrative Corruption (Pepca) to hand over all the proceedings that they have carried out in the course of the investigation, but that they were hidden in clear violation of the law. law.
For this reason, they went to the Fourth Investigating Court of the National District, the case control court, to order Pepca to deliver these documents, a request that will be heard on March 10 during a hearing.
