In a parking lot in Valle del Cocora that was packed to capacity this Good Friday, a car ended up damaged when a wax palm fell on it.
The people who were in the place managed to run when they heard the loud noise that the palm tree generated when it broke at the base.
The occupants of the vehicle, apparently a couple who had come from Bogotá for a walk in the area, had gotten out minutes before the accident.
In this area of Salento, Quindío, one of the preferred sites during school vacation days, Easter or bank holidays, they are investigating whether there were alerts about the state of the wax palm and other tree species.
About the damage to the vehicle and who to claim is the debate, it is not clear if this is a property managed by the Mayor’s Office or some public entity, or if it is private.
In addition, if a risk assessment had been done in the Valle del Cocora given the high number of tourists that would arrive these days.
No injured people are reported, but the occupants of the private vehicle were doing the paperwork for the transfer to their city.
