At the request of the family, the Ombudsman’s Office, through the Santa Cruz Ombudsman’s delegation, visited the family at their home. Former Minister of Health Eidy Roca and evidenced his delicate health situation due to a terminal illness, a situation that will lead to them appearing in a virtual hearing as observers and take measures appropriate to their health.

“The ladyRoca is bedridden in a hospital, connected to a respirator without being able to interact with her environment, because she cannot make muscle movements due to a Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) diagnosed four years ago. As the Ombudsman’s Office we do not decide, nor do we interfere in the administration of justice, but We trust in the human part of the administrators of justice and the delicate health situation of Mrs. Roca is taken into account, as in other cases, the technical part is not separated from the human part,” indicated the departmental delegate of the defense of Santa Cruz, Sheila Gómez.

The former minister is prcriminally prosecuted for the purchase of 324 respirators when he was in office, during the administration of Jeanine Áñez.

He explained that within the framework of Law 870, the Ombudsman’s Office, which oversees due process, will be present as observers at the hearing public that will be held this Wednesday, August 14, virtually.

The delegate reported that during a meeting with Eidy Roca’s sister, she learned that the lawyer pwill edit the measures according to its current situation health.
