Ombudsman's Office warns of the Municipality of El Tambo that cannot be dislodged to a chained woman

The Ombudsman’s Office intervened in the District Municipality of El Tambo, after Rafaela Mallma was alerted, who has been chained at the door of the municipality for more than a month demanding the payment of 45 thousand soles for vehicle maintenance work.

The lawyer Mario de la Cruz, representative of the Ombudsman, reminded Mayor Julio César Llallico and the municipal officials that Mallma’s protest constitutes the exercise of a fundamental right covered in the Constitution and that, by not affecting third parties, any attempt of forced eviction would configure an abuse of authority.

The alert arose after the circulation of a memorial, apparently emitted by residents of the district, in which they requested that the protester withdraw from the place. Given this, Mallma showed the documents that prove the claimed debt, although the commune insists that they would be insufficient to recognize it.

Meanwhile, the woman continues with her protest despite the health difficulties caused by remaining outdoors.
