The Ombudsman rejected through its social networks that the draft security protocol for journalists during protests proposed by the Ministry of the Interior (Mininter) does not really protect the press or allow them to freely exercise their profession under parameters that safeguard their security.
In their publication they indicate that they sent certain observations to the project as an association, but that the Ministry did not take them into account for the preliminary publication.

“We believe that this protocol should provide for immediate actions that the authority in charge of an operation should take, either to protect journalists from imminent risks of violence or from attacks by members of the security forces,” the tweet read. .
They added that they must take into account measures to care for wounds, identify risk factors for the prevention of violence against journalists and include specific proposals on attacks on women journalists, as well as mechanisms to contact authorities in charge of operations.
