In the letter, the Ombudsman’s Office also asks the president of the route to explain if there are training plans for drivers on the duties and rights of users; recalling that the National Human Rights Institution, according to numeral 4 of Law 7 of February 5, 1997, modified by Law 41 of December 1, 2005 and Law 55 of October 2, 2009, may investigate and report facts , acts or omissions of public, private or mixed companies, natural or legal persons that develop a public service by concession or administrative authorization.
Likewise, the Human Rights Protection Directorate (PRODH) of the Ombudsman’s Office visited the relatives of the affected user together with a team of human rights officers and a Social Worker, providing guidance and a report on social conditions; Eudacia Rodríguez stated that she was worried because her brother would be in need of therapies, special food, among other types of help, and they do not have the financial resources.
“With the information provided to us, we can take steps with the Ministry of Housing and Territorial Planning (MIVIOT), since the relatives are requesting that part of the house be refurbished,” explained Giancarlo Batista of PRODH.
