The Ombudsman warned that 10 families, including 16 minors, coming from the community of Bocas de Uga, located on the banks of the Apaporis river, bordering the Amazon, would be at risk of suffering forced displacement due to the actions of the Farc dissidents.
These people, all indigenous, are arriving en masse in the municipality of Taraira (Vaupés), where the forced displacement of three more communities is expected, due to alleged threats by illegal armed groups.
The Ombudsman’s Office had warned of the risk in which the indigenous communities found themselves in the jungles of Vaupés due to the actions of the Farc dissidentsspecifically in the Early Warning 024-2022, where the risk scenario configured from the expansion of the Front 1 “Armando Ríos” of the Farc dissidents was exposed.

Additionally, through the Regional Vaupés, the Ombudsman’s Office has also warned about the murders registered in the department and that are causing the displacement of communities.
Given this worrying situation andhe Ombudsman, Carlos Camargo, once again requested the urgent presence of the public force in the Bajo Apaporis areain order to protect indigenous communities at risk of displacement.
“We request the National Army to be present in the municipality of Taraira, in order to protect the life, honor and property of the communities that are being affected by the incursion of groups outside the law,” said Carlos Camargo Assis. .

Finally, the Ombudsman asked the authorities to take urgent action in view of the risk in which the communities of the department find themselves, and indicated that the Entity in charge will issue an imminent alert specifically for that area of the country.
