The Ombudsman issued a statement rejecting the actions of the US government against President Nicolás Maduro and international law.
The pronouncement is issued after prosecutor Pamela Bondi again reiterated “inventions and lies” against the first national president.
In that sense, the office presided by Alfredo Ruíz, points out that he is undermating the integrity and security of the Head of State, belittling international law, the United Nations Charter and the US law itself.
Then the statement of the statement:
Ombudsman’s Office rejects the actions of the US government against President Nicolás Maduro and international law
The Ombudsman of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela expresses its most energetic condemnation of the recent action of the United States government, through its spokesman Pamela Bondi that raised to 50 million dollars the alleged reward for the capture of the head of state and democratically elected president Nicolás Maduro Mooros, in an act that constitutes a flagrant violation of international law and the principles of sovereignty and non -intervention; as well as reiteration of inventions and lies to foster violence.
This unilateral measure attempts against the integrity and security of the Venezuelan head of state, ignoring once again international law, the United Nations Charter, the US law itself, as well as the democratic and constitutional mechanisms through which it was elected. The Ombudsman considers that these types of actions generate a climate of tension and hostility that harms internal peace and regional stability, also putting world security at risk.
Likewise, the institution reaffirms its commitment to the defense of national sovereignty, human rights and respect for the democratic institutionality in force in Venezuela. These types of coercive and extraterritorial acts are contrary to the United Nations Charter and the international norms that regulate relations between states. One more attack that adds to the economic siege, the theft of the Aircraft of Conviesa and the innumerable to the national economy, such as those made against the Fund of Aid and Donations of Citgo and the money for vaccines and transplants and operations to Venezuelan girls and boys, abundantly documented by the United Nations Rapporteurs.
The Ombudsman’s Office calls on the international community to reject any attempt to aggression that violates the self -determination of the Venezuelan people and refrains from actions that transgress the sovereignty and internal peace of the nation. The defense of the sovereign equality of states, the self -determination of peoples and the principles of non -intervention, are fundamental pillars of international law, also the basis of human rights. As the Mexican hero and president said, Benito Juárez, in 1867, “among people as among nations, respect for the right of others is peace.”
