Ombudsman opens complaint against the MOP for possible violation of the right to housing

Faced with the possible violation of the right to housing, the Ombudsman’s Office (DDP) filed a complaint against the Ministry of Public Works (MOP), on the complaint of a resident of Las Praderas de San Antonio, in San Miguelito, who fears losing his house, due to excavations carried out in the bed of the Juan Díaz River.

The owner, who is an elderly person, indicated that she filed a complaint in 2009 with the MOP and that to date they have not responded, so she is concerned about the start of the rainy season and continued erosion of the land.

DDP human rights officers verified after the inspection that the removal of the land caused the river to divert its course and impact the house causing the collapse of the walls and part of the land.
