Ombudsman opens complaint against Idaan, Minsa and the Police for possible violation of the right to water and health

A complaint against the Institute of National Aqueducts and Sewers (IDAAN), and the Ministry of Health (Minsa) for the possible violation of the right to water and health, as well as the National Police for the alleged excess of force, opened the Ombudsman’s Office, after the protest of the residents of Santa Cruz, Villalobos of the township of Pedregal, for lack of drinking water service.

The Citizen Attention Plan (PAC) of the Ombudsman’s Office, was activated for two consecutive days in order to attend to the road closure in the Community of Santa Cruz, the residents demand that the IDAAN carry out pressure tests of drinking water, after consider that the Right to Water has been waiting for improvement for more than 10 years.

The human rights officers verified that around 535 boys and girls who study at the Santa Cruz school have been without access to the right to education for several days, approximately 4,000 people who make up the community of Santa Cruz, without water, violating the right to health since there have been, according to the protesters, cases of vomiting and diarrhea.
