This Monday, November 15, a delegation from the Ombudsman’s Office will travel to Metetí, accompanied by members of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, to address the problems of the migration crisis currently being experienced in the province of Darién.
The tour also includes visiting Bajo Chiquito and Canaán Membrillo throughout the week.
According to the commissioner, Feliciano Grajales, head of the Panama East Brigade of the National Border Service, expressed that there has been a decrease in the passage of migrants through the Darien jungle.
He added that the movement of migrants is observed on the trail that leads to Canaán Membrillo, they enter through the Pacific, through Ostional beach, near Jaqué.
So far this year, more than 125,000 migrants have crossed the Darien trail, most of them Haitians.
