The Ombudsman’s Office clarifies to the public that this administration has been characterized by respecting the rulings of the Judicial Branch and that despite the fact that in the case of the former defender Patria Portugal the entity is a victim, it has been offered accompaniment with lawyers as observers to guarantee due process, as well as guidance through the Department of Women’s Rights.
Likewise, the Defender’s Deputy together with the Director of Legal Advice were assigned to attend to the relatives of the aforementioned former defender; however, said meeting proposal was rejected.
The Ombudsman’s Office reiterates its commitment to defend the human rights of all inhabitants in the national territory; as well as to inquire about the acts, facts or omissions of the public administration, including local governments and the Public Force that could have been carried out irregularly, as expressed in article 4 of Law 7 of 1987, by which create the institution.
