The constitutionalist regretted that the Congress of the republic frustrated the possibility of approving the early elections in this legislature.
The constitutionalist Omar Cairo ruled on the decision approved by the Congress of the Republic to resume the debate on toelection previewbut that it be treated in the next legislature when the Constitution Commission presents a nNew opinion for the new electoral elections.
Omar Cairo regretted Parliament’s position and considered that “ it would be very difficult for the elections to be held in 2023, because the “other legislature just started in August“.
“Unfortunately, they have just frustrated the possibility of approval in two legislatures with 87 votes each, because the second approval would only be given in the legislature that begins in August and it would be very difficult for the elections to be held in 2023,” said Omar Cairo in statements for the Republic.
In that criticism, he mentioned that “the only viable thing is that it be processed quickly in the next legislature, approved with more than 66 votes and ratified in a referendum (all of this well before July).”
