Ollanta Humala: statements by Marcelo Odebrecht, Jorge Barata, among others will be given in January 2023

Marcelo’s witness statements Jorge Barata, and other witnesses, who were going to speak in the case against former President Ollanta Humala, were rescheduled for January 2023.

This was reported by the Public Ministry on its social networks with the precision that the judicial decision was made at the request of the Lava Jato special team.

The announcement comes after the Brazilian company Odebrecht requested the Public Ministry to reschedule the declaration of five of its executives in the framework of the oral trial against former president Ollanta Humala; his wife, Nadine Heredia; and others for the alleged crime of money laundering.

In a document sent to prosecutor Germán Juárez Atoche, of the Lava Jato Case Special Team, Lourdes Luisa Carreño Carcelén, nicknamed the company, indicated that they have been unable to comply with the measure after the suspension of international legal cooperation.

Humala and Heredia are prosecuted for the alleged crime of money laundering for allegedly receiving irregular contributions from Odebrecht.
