The Turin club had been acquitted along with 10 other entities in the European spring of 2022, but the federation’s court of appeal accepted the federal prosecutor’s demand to reopen the dossier due to the elements transmitted by the Italian justice that is also investigating the Juventus accounts, according to a statement from the federation.

With the 15 point penalty to the Italian club, “to meet in the current seasonAccording to the terms of the statement, the instance has gone beyond the request of the prosecutor, who had requested a withdrawal of nine points.

The appellate court also issued important suspensions for ex-leaders of the club: two and a half years to the former sports director Fabio Paraticicurrently at Tottenham, and two years for the former president Andrea Agnelliwho left his duties this week. The sanctions are stronger than those requested by the federal prosecutor Giuseppe Chine.

Juventus have the possibility of appeal to the Italian Olympic Committee (Coni) in the face of this sanction that greatly compromises his chances of finishing in the top four in Serie A, synonymous with playing in the next Champions League.

Despite the fact that other clubs were also singled out at the beginning, Juventus has been the main accused of having increased the sale price of several players to register capital gains that would allow their accounts to be validated.

Juventus is also being judicially investigated for possible accounting fraud to artificially limit their losses on balance sheets presented to investors.

The Turin prosecutor’s office requested in early December that Andrea Agnelli and 11 other former leaders be sent to trial. This request must be examined at the end of March.

Agnelli announced his resignation at the end of November, under judicial pressure. His successor to the presidency, Gianluca Ferrero, was officially named on Wednesday.
