Olga de Obaldía on the right to reply: ‘Democracies cannot live without freedom of the press’

Olga de Obaldía, from the Libertad Ciudadana foundation, analyzed this Friday on Radio Panama, the issue of the bill that refers to the right to reply in the media, indicating that democracies cannot live without freedom of the press.

“The background is more than the economic issue and the issue of the publication of the rectification or apology. Democracies cannot live without freedom of the press, it is inherent to democracy. When you lose your voice or it is cut so much that you cannot express, inform, complain or replicate the truth, it is very difficult to put limits on power, ”she specified.

He mentioned that the text of this bill is quite clear, adding that Panama has various regulations that apply with respect to the right to reply, beginning with international human rights instruments.
