Far from the stages, boxes, private parties and electric trios that host national attractions this carnival in São Luís, Maranhão, the bohemian Madre Deus neighborhood will be a stronghold for the capital’s most traditional groups and blocks. 
Ninety attractions will liven up the carnival in the neighborhood.
From this Friday until the 17th, the Vem Pra Madre Circuit will host around 90 attractions, allowing revelers to have fun at three different points: the Gavião Stage; the São Jorge Stage and the Vanishing Point Stage.
There will be six each day, considering the three spaces, with the presentations always starting at six in the afternoon.
Traditional, Afro and alternative groups, the Creole drum and samba groups will provide fun for revelers in these five days of programming.
This Friday, the carnival begins on the circuit with Blocão do Nina, Bloco do Reggae Gdam, Tô Com Jhon, Blocão SDS, Bloco da Cruz and Bloco do Azedinho.
On Sunday, in addition to the performances on stage, the highlight is the christening of the Bloco “Fuzileiros da Fuzarca”, which this year celebrates 90 years of foundationconsidering the oldest carnival block in activity in São Luís.

The batucada will start at 4pm, at the block’s headquarters, which is on Afrânio Peixoto Street.
After five days of carnival, neighborhood residents and revelers who don’t want to let the party end are already warning that São João is right there.
On the 18th, with gatherings starting at 7am, in Largo do Caroçudo, the traditional “Boi de Cinzas” will take place. Under the rhythm of rattles and tambourines, lovers of Bumba Meu Boi culture party through the streets of the Madre Deus neighborhood, in the first June preview of São Luís.
