Oil shipments from Venezuela to Cuba increased 30% in May

MIAMI, United States. — The Venezuelan regime increased oil exports to Cuba last May, the agency reported today Reuters.

The British media highlighted that the Caribbean island received an average of 58,100 barrels per day (bpd), a figure 30% higher than what was sent by the state-owned Petróleos de Venezuela (PDVSA) in April.

Reuters He adds that oil shipments from abroad to Cuban ports have increased in recent months with the arrival of several ships.

One of the most used ports to disembark Venezuelan crude is that of the southern city of Cienfuegos. During the last weeks, the oil tanker Vilma, which sails under the Cuban flag, has stopped there.

The same has happened with the ships Alicia, Sandino, Delsa, Pastorita, Marianna VV, Calipso and Caribbean Alliance. These have sailed in Cuban waters and have arrived at various ports in the country in recent months with Venezuelan crude.

Last Friday, the oil tanker Nicos, with the flag of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, from Venezuela, arrived at the port of Santiago de Cuba.

Reuters It also specifies that the unloading of oil and its derivatives in Cuban ports has been expedited due to the crisis that the Caribbean country is going through.

In total, the Cuban regime has imported 606,258 bpd of crude and refined products, a figure that is lower than that registered between April and May, but higher than that of January and February.

The increase in crude shipments from Venezuela to Cuba in May came amid a 14% drop in PDVSA exports. However, these cuts did not affect the agreements between the two countries.

The drop in crude oil shipments to Cuba by the Chavista regime in Venezuela was one of the main causes of the fuel shortage crisis suffered by the Island recently, something that was recognized by the authorities of the Caribbean country.
