Oil production in May is 2.879 million barrels per day

Production on a shared basis increases with the entry of the Búzios Field

In May, oil production in the country reached about 2.879 million barrels per day (MMbbl/d) and 132 million cubic meters per day (MMm3/d) of natural gas, totaling 3.707 million barrels of oil equivalent per day. (MMboe/d).Oil production in May is 2.879 million barrels per day

The information is contained in the Monthly Bulletin of the Production of Oil and Natural Gas, published today (6), in Rio de Janeiro, by the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP),

The information can be accessed, interactively, in the Dynamic Panels for Oil and Natural Gas Production.

In the pre-salt region, the bulletin announces that production, in May, registered a volume of 2,835 MMboe/d, being 2,239 MMbbl/d of oil and 94.7 MMm3/d of natural gas, which corresponded to 76.5 % of national production. Production originated from 128 wells.

In May, the use of natural gas reached 96.5%. 46.3 Mmm³/day were made available to the market. Gas flaring in the month was 4.5 Mmm³/d.

In the month, offshore fields produced 97.4% of oil and 86.7% of natural gas, with fields operated by Petrobras accounting for 94.2% of oil and natural gas produced in Brazil.

Numbers

The Tupi field, located in the pre-salt layer of the Santos Basin, was the largest producer of oil and natural gas last May, with 776 MMbbl/d of oil and 36.6 MMm3/d of natural gas.

The installation with the highest oil production, totaling 165,478 bbl/d, was the FPSO Carioca Platform, in the Sépia and Sépia Leste fields, through four interconnected wells. In terms of natural gas, the installation with the highest production was Polo Arara, producing 7.252 Mmm³/d in the fields of Arara Azul, Araracanga, Carapanaúba, Cupiúba, Rio Urucu and Leste do Urucu through 33 wells connected to it.

The bulletin also reveals that Estreito, in the Potiguar Basin, had the highest number of onshore producing wells (951), while Tupi, in the Santos Basin, was the offshore field with the highest number of producing wells (59).

The marginal accumulation fields, in turn, produced 539.6 boe/d, with 187.2 bbl/d of oil and 56 Mm³/d of natural gas. The Iraí field, operated by Petroborn, was the largest producer, with 212.9 boe/d.

Areas

In May, 272 areas granted, five areas of transfer of rights and eight areas of sharing, operated by 41 companies, were responsible for national production. Of these, 62 are offshore and 223 onshore, 12 of which relate to contracts for areas containing marginal accumulations. Production took place in 6,095 wells, of which 447 are offshore and 5,648 onshore.

The mature onshore basins (fields/long-term tests in the Espírito Santo, Potiguar, Recôncavo, Sergipe and Alagoas basins) produced 84,698 Mboe/d, of which 61,905 Mbbl/d of oil and 3,624 MMm³/d of natural gas. Of this total, 37.3 thousand boe/d were produced by Petrobras and 47.4 thousand boe/d by concessions not operated by the company.

According to the ANP, the average API grade of oil extracted in Brazil was 28.3, with 2.2% of production considered light oil, 93.5% medium oil and 4.3% heavy oil. API Grade measures the density of petroleum-derived liquids.
