Officials sworn in to new positions

Santo Domingo.- The new Minister of Agriculture, Francisco Oliverio Espaillat Bencosme, and the new Director General of Internal Taxes (DGII), Pedro Porfirio Urrutia, officially assumed their duties after being sworn in at separate events.

The Vice President of the Republic, Raquel Peña, led the swearing-in ceremony of Pedro Porfirio Urrutia as head of the DGII, in compliance with Decree 2-26.

During the ceremony, Peña highlighted the professional capabilities of the new official and underlined the importance of efficient, modern tax management that is close to taxpayers, aligned with the objectives of institutional strengthening and citizen trust.

Upon assuming office, Urrutia expressed his commitment to contributing to the strengthening of the Dominican State through a more accessible and efficient tax administration.

The new director of the DGII is a certified public accountant, tax expert and founding partner of Moore ULA, a member firm of the Moore Global Network, with extensive experience in tax and financial consulting.

Subsequently, Peña swore in Gloria Reyes as the new Minister of Women, after her appointment by President Luis Abinader by decree.
