Officialism will support the inclusion of clubs in anti-money laundering controls

Hugo Ramírez, national deputy for the ruling party, said that his bench will vote in favor of the Senate version of the bill that intends to include sports clubs and tobacco companies as Obliged Subjects (SO) of Seprelad.

This is the bill that modifies articles 13, 25 and 28 of Law 1,015/1,997, “What prevents and represses illicit acts aimed at legitimizing money or goods”, modified by Laws 3783/2009 and 6797/ 2021.

The Senate ratified its own version of the document in the second round, so now it returns to the Deputies where 41 votes are needed for the ratification of its own version. Otherwise, the version of the Senate will be sanctioned.

It should be remembered that the “Republican Force” movement is made up of 18 deputies.

“We are going to support what was approved in the Senate. Seprelad must be able to control tobacco companies and football clubs. We also have other bills to remove the country from the black list, such as the purchase of scanners at Customs, as well as the possibility of a new law that allows the purchase of a radar, and this has been dragging on since before 2018,” he reported.

He pointed out that it is a decision of the bench where they will accompany so that the Government has the necessary tools to be able to face drug trafficking, organized crime and money laundering.

INDISCIPLINE

When asked about some acts of indiscipline that characterize the members of the ruling party in the Lower House, in the sense that they end up voting in the opposite direction to the mandates of their leaders, Ramírez expressed that it should be taken into account that the elections are approaching . In other words, he points out that the deputies must choose well what decisions they make since the electorate can take its toll.

“I am very confident that colleagues will accompany because now there is an organization and an institutional voice on issues and projects that are of interest to the Government, the movement and Paraguay. That organization will improve the discipline of the bench”, he concluded.

OPPOSITION SECTOR

Celso Kennedy, a national deputy for the PLRA, expressed that he has doubts that Chartism has the 41 votes to ratify its version of the document.

“Anyone who is absent or abstains will vote for the Senate version, hurting those who are against it,” he said.

Article 211 of the National Constitution establishes that a project sent from one chamber to the other, which is not dealt with within 3 months, will be sanctioned as it arrived and delivered to the Executive for its promulgation or veto.

Antonio Buzarquis, national deputy for the PLRA, pointed out that they have a firm position to approve the version of the Senate.

“I could not be sure if the votes exist. When dealing with issues that have to do with tobacco companies and Horacio Cartes, not only is breath running, but many other things run in the Chamber of Deputies. Unfortunately, in a shameful behavior of parliamentarians. Many legislators are seduced by economic power. A lot of money flows in Congress when issues that are going to affect the interests of the Cartes group are going to be dealt with,” he concluded.
