After the Ministry of Health (Minsa) reported that Panama entered a sixth wave of Covid-19, Education Minister Maruja Gorday de Villalobos indicated that official educational centers will not close, but recommended maintaining self-care measures within of the classrooms.
The minister stressed that teachers have 95% vaccines and 85% of students have the basic scheme, so the risk of contagion is lower, however, she said that one cannot lower one’s guard.
He indicated that the use of the mask in schools is optional and said that even if we are in a sixth wave, it is not possible to close the schools, especially now that the educational system tries to recover the classes lost during the July strike.
